In 1984, at age 27, I moved to Aspen to open Mark Justin, which became a successful retail-clothing store/guide and outfitting service for over 10 years. In 1995, I had the opportunity to acquire the building that housed my operations and subsequently commenced what has become a 22-year real estate career totaling over $725 million in residential sales. I’ve also been involved in Aspen’s commercial real estate market by developing/restoring the Wheeler Block, the A.G. Sheppard and Prada buildings in Aspen and have been honored by Aspen’s Historic Commission for my work.
SIGNIFICANT SALES: In the past 6 years, I’ve represented the Sellers of the highest priced single-family home sales in the state of Colorado on two separate occasions. The closing of Aspen’s Summit House for $29.5 million was the most expensive home sale in Colorado in 2015, and I brokered both the listing and selling side of a $20,750,000 Aspen estate which was the highest priced home sale in the state of Colorado in 2011. Between those sales, I represented the Buyer in the first successful real estate auction in Aspen, which sold for $11,750,00 in 2012, and most recently, I concluded the sale of an Aspen penthouse for $13,200,000, which, at $2,700/sq ft, was one of the highest prices per square foot ever paid in Aspen’s real estate history. Because of these accomplishments, I have earned the respect of my peers as well as my customers and clients.
My wife, Laura, and I spend time in South Florida during the “off-seasons”, and our son James, is a Sous Chef at John Besh’s and Aaron Sanchez’s, collaborative restaurant, “Johnnie Sanchez” in New Orleans, LA.
